Following the single “Seal Song” from the Field Guide I, Chainetter returns to Maison Fauna with a new two-track single, “Intrusion / Z Form.” “Intrusion" immediately distinguishes Chainletter’s style from other melodic, ambient techno. Elevated with complex sound design, unplaceable, chopped-up samples, and a propelling beat, this track can temporarily transport us to what feels like another time and space. “Z Form,” the next step in our sonic journey, presents a different side of s similar coin. While these two tracks undoubtedly go together in pallet and tone, “Z Form” brings something softer to the table. As the vocals burst through to tell us: “nobody knows anyone else,” we’re reminded what it’s like to be in our own bodies and what it’s like to be misunderstood. With these two tracks, Chainletter manages to fuse some of the hardest and most ambient aspects of dance music.
