about

“371115,” the debut EP from the anonymous producer Jquell Roaché, is a captivating journey through the worlds of House & Techno. Throughout “371115,” Roaché’s use of syncopated percussion is unmatched in its originality and unexpectedness, serving as the basis for his newfound, leftfield sound. In fact, the title of the EP actually refers to the settings on his 909, a classic drum machine that is at the forefront of everything he produces and helps give his tracks a grippingly nostalgic vibe. Leading off with the single “Grubhub,” the listener immediately feels immersed in the sonic space Roaché’s so carefully crafted; a space defined by cheeky bits of ear candy, crunchy vocal samples, and satisfying hi-hats. The party continues with “Jerly” and “IJustDroppedMyMarbles,” two fully realized House and Techno fusions that pull from Roaché’s roots in Breaks and Jersey Club. Rounding out the project is “DontForgetTheRope,” an emotive closer featuring a sample from Gil Scott-Heron, that serves as a guide through the current political climate. Throughout “371115,” one thing remains clear: whether you’re on the dancefloor or reading the news, Jquell Roaché has a track to get you through it.
